Tower Corner
Cook Carillion Tower
This is Cook Carillion Tower on the campus of Grand Valley State University. As a matter of fact, all of my architecture photos were taken at GVSU. For these photos I liked taking the pictures from the base of the tower, since it gave it the feeling of looming over the entire campus. I also liked how the blueprint format emphasized the individual brickwork of the tower.
Mary Idema Pew Library
Blue Library
This is Grand Valley's campus library. It is a very cool looking building with unique architecture design, making it perfect for photography. The light reflecting off the glass in the top photo was an effect I liked. I also thought it looked interesting how the sign's shadow showed on the glass in the blueprint photo, making it almost look like there were two signs.
James H. Zumberge Hall
Windows in Blue
This building, like many others at Grand Valley, has a lot of blue glass, which looks very impressive when set against a bright blue sky with clouds as a backdrop. The perfectly straight lines in both photos look very cool as well.
Stone Wall
Seidman House
This building uses a lot of stonework in the walls, making it an interesting subject. I liked the way the top photo used parallel lines to its effect, since it made for a well-balanced picture. I also liked the effect I used in the blueprint photo by taking it at an angle, making the walls almost act as leading lines toward the left side of the picture.
Blue & Orange
Lake Ontario Hall
Once again, this building was very pretty looking against a blue sky due to its blue colored windows. The top photo uses said windows to act as leading lines toward the blue, cloudy sky. The blueprint effect on the bottom picture is good at emphasizing both the individual bricks and the glass windows.
