Artist's Statement: This image is a combination of six images that represent myself and my interests. For most of these I used the overlay effect to make them blend into the background. The background of it is a picture I took of myself with a tyrannosaurus rex on top of my head. I made this a purposefully weird image, as in addition to the dinosaur I put the photo in black and white, put a dazed expression on my face and made the quality of the image itself grainy and fuzzy around the edges to give it the dreamlike feel of a David Lynch film. The second photo was one of my dog Max, since I love dogs and Max is my favorite of them all. This image is slightly smaller and faded into the background and not as easy to spot as the others. The third image was of one of my dad’s old Kodak cameras I found in the basement. I mostly took this picture because I thought it would make a cool photograph. The fourth picture is of a vinyl record of Led Zeppelin’s The Song Remains the Same, which represents my love of Led Zeppelin’s music and rock music in general. I made this photo fade into the background because I thought it made a nice effect. The fifth image was of a little plastic dinosaur I found in my room. This honestly doesn’t really represent anything. I just thought it was funny and didn’t even think until later about the fact that this thing has two different dinosaurs in it. The sixth and final photograph was of my dad’s red vinyl record case with a Ghostly sticker on it, which is also indicative of my love of music. I hope that this serves as an effective indicator of my general personality and interests through the power of photography.

My final double exposure looks much better than my original selfie, my first assignment in this class. This is partly because I didn’t have as many images to use. In my first assignment I had to balance my selfie and several other images. Since I only had to work with two images on this most recent assignment, I was able to focus much more on those two, making each one much more effective. This also means that there is not too much going on at once, making it a more balanced and focused picture overall. It also helps that my skills with both photography and Photoshop have improved since the beginning of the trimester.
